MANY NUTRITION GUIDES URGE US TO EAT MORE FRUIT AND VEGETABLES PER DAY AS A MORE HEALTHIER DIET. BUT HEALTHIER DOES NOT EQUAL TASTIER FOR EVERYONE. SO, WOULDNT IT BE A GREAT IDEA TO COMBINE HEALTHY AND TASTY?
For this reason, our recipe recommendation for you today is the Cucumber Gin Cooler, a cocktail that tastes delicious and helps you stay healthy.
Our recipe is a modified version of the classic Gin Tonic long drink that—thanks to fresh cucumber and lime slices—contains all the ingredients to become the new fashion drink not just for vegetarians and vegans.
Fruit in cocktails, such as limes slices in the Caipirinha cocktail or lime juice in the Tequila Sunrise cocktail, is nothing new. Vegetables in a cocktail, however, are yet another story. Rest assured that not only you will be enthusiastic about this unorthodox ingredient but also your friends. The cucumber slices, in particular, give our Cucumber Gin Cooler, the final touch.
This vegetarian-vegan drinking delight is very easy to prepare, even for unexperienced cocktail makers who will be able to mix these ingredients and produce great results. Besides, you will have many options for adapting this drink to your particular taste. With the video and recipe description to help, you will be able to create a perfect cocktail in not time.
Ingredients (measures for 1 cocktail)
– 1/8 cup Gin
– 1/5 cup Vermouth
– 1/5 cup Sprite (or optionally Bitter Lemon)
– Ice cubes or crushed Ice
– 1/2 limes
– 1 cucumber (cut into 5 thin slices)
– 1 stem of dill (optionally another stem for decoration)
– Dry white wine to top off
Put the cucumber slices and one dill stem into the mixer and douse the vegetables with gin and vermouth, then mix them all together.
Fill a second glass half with ice cubes or crushed ice and then add the cucumber-alcohol-mix slowly to it.
Then, press the juice out of half a or a whole lime into the glass and add sprite to it.
Finally, top off the glass with dry white wine of your choice and decorate the finished cocktail as you like.
Before enjoying your Cucumber Gin Cooler, we recommend you seal the remaining white wine in your bottle with the zzysh® “whine” stopper. This way, you can be sure that you will be able to enjoy more cocktails with the white wine still fresh.
The „zzysh“ wine stopper offers you two tremendous advantages:
One, you make sure that you will be able to enjoy more cocktails with fresh white wine, and two, your cocktail will mature during the time it takes to seal the white wine. The longer the cucumber slices are soaked in the mixture of lime juice, gin, vermouth and bitter lemon/tonic water, the more intense the cucumber slices in the cocktail will taste of it. They absorb the flavors of the liquids, providing you with a unique drinking delight.
We are certain that you will not want to enjoy this great cocktail only by yourself but together with your friends. Just don’t forget that best cocktail results are achieved with opened white wine bottles that are sealed with a proper “zzysh”.
